No sir, the bullet does not mushroom or expand like a hollow point, it is designed to stay together and punch a small hole through light armor and concrete block structures like what is built in Iraq and Afghanistan. Two million rounds were initially supplied to the army in late 2010 and the troops like and prefer the new ammunition. It is more accurate when fired in the M4 with the one in 9" twist barell and the new projectile stabilizes better and flies straighter while giving more penetration through walls. It uses a tungsten core with a copper jacket and a bi-metal alloy in the base for stability while in flight. The troops like it. The bullet is longer than the old projectiles but is seated deeper in the case so the OAL remains the same for proper cycling in the M4 amd M16 service rifles. I have asked several reloading suppliers and they can't get these bullets for sale to the public because the govt is buying up all that are being made, plus the current administration is trying to outlaw ALL armor piercing ammo from civilians so we must wait to see what happens as far as availability to Joe Public.
