Our grandson brought us two truckloads of wood last night. What a guy! I just fished hand-splitting some but log splitter is coming Friday morning for the rest.

A year ago, I received a Master's Degree in Public Administration. I have decide to forgo work for the gov and will enter nursing school in January. I think that learning what I can in the medical field will definitely come in handy when everything hits the fan.

I have located numerous references about EMP that too many freak out about.
From what little I know already, from what I've currently gleaned, an EMP is not all it is cracked up to be but, I still have to read all the reports in order to make any sense of anything related to this event.

I found a display of oil lamps and oil on sale at the local chinamart, picked up one to try out, and was surprised. They seem to be fairly decent quality and the oil seems to be odorless. So will return this afternoon to add a few more to my inventory. I have been pondering a vent-less gas heater to add to the list, even thought we have done fine in the past running the generator, it might be nice to be warm without the hassle. Ill have to fine one that doesn't require electricity to operate.

Out working on a freezer today and afterwards I wandered around picking up a few items for some new GHBs I'll be putting together. Lamp oil to add to the stock, more matches, some small FAKs for the bags and, SC is having a tax-free on firearms sale next weekend. I'm beginning to lean heavily toward purchasing another rifle for my collection, just have to decide which one. 8)

We have recently been buying some food grade storage containers from a local restaurant supply house for our bulk goods. They have various sizes so we picked one for 50lbs of rice one for 20lbs of oats one for flour one for sugar and one for dried fruit so far. They are heavy duty, they stack well and the lids snap on like a Tupperware. You can write on them with a magic marker or as we did write on a piece of blue painters tape for the label. I then thought I wanted to get some food grade containers to keep my chicken feed in and one for their water, to eliminate the possibility of bisphenol (BPA), because I have been using plain 5 gal buckets, but I didn’t want to spend the money. After thinking about it for a while I decided to call Wal-Mart and asked for their bakery department, they get the frosting for their cakes in food grade 5 gal buckets and they will sell them with the lids for $1.00 each. They had three of them with the lids, the lids snapped on very tight. They had them washed out but they did still smell like cake frosting not a bad thing. I would think if they have them Costco and other stores with bakeries should also have them. I washed them out with soap and water and they were fine. In the future I will be buying these for my own food storage.
