HAIR CUTS AND GARDENING

I was reading in PREPS about BEE-PIPES getting a home grown hair cut,myself i haven't been in a barber shop for 15 years that adds up to a lot of hair the way mine grows. A few years ago I read an article about using human hair as a slow release fertilizer for tomatoe plants. It said to put a golf ball sized wad of hair in the hole with your tomatoe plants and by the time the plant started to produce tomatoes the hair would be starting to break down enough for the plant to absorb it.If i'm not mistaken human hair is the only type that works this way.

We have been using hair from cuts for years as a part of the compost miracle. It takes a while to break down, though by itself. I remember reading in Mother about using it.

Hey, anything that comes under the heading of FREE and helps grow bigger and better tomatoes will be used to its maximun around here. You know what else works and is still cheap is a small tid bit of rock phosphate. Its all natural and produces larger tomatoes. I also scratch it in around the base of my fruit trees to help set the blossoms in March and they seem to withstand the cold and wind better.
