Glasr Safety Slugs

Post by Toepopper »

The Glaser Safety Slug ammunition has been around for almost 30 years but not many people know about this type of ammunition. It was originally designed to be used by air marshalls, in close combat situations (like in an airliner) where over penetration could be lethal. The Blue tipped 45 cal +P safety slug is a frangible round, containing #12 shot beneath a round plastic ball. These rounds weigh 145 grains and travel at 1350 feet per second and when they hit they produce immediate energy dispersal creating abrupt stopping power without overpenetration. The silver tipped version uses #6 shot and is designed to be used in colder climates where heavier clothing is used and it will penetrate an extra 2 inches. This ammunition is not cheap but would make an excellent home defense round because it will not penetrate walls or ricochet into a neighbors home. Glaser Safety Slugs are also made in 38, 9MM, 380, and 40 cal. Some people don't like G.S.S. because it won't penetrate far enough and others prefer it for this reason so you will have to decide for yourself if these rounds will work for you. As far as I know it is legal in every state but it might be a good idea to check local laws before buying this ammunition.

I have carried those for years in my 9mm guns, just have to make sure it can take a +P round. That is what I currently have in my Glock 26. I remember when I first got them the gun store owner showed me an article on them saying anyone (98% )ever hit with just of these had never gotten back up.
