Telescoping police baton

Post by Toepopper »

About 10 years ago the police departments started replacing their wood batons for the metalic collapsable belt baton. These were easier to carry on a duty belt and were more effective at breaking car windows to extract accident victims. Now there are several different manufacturers of them and the competition has brought the price down to anywhere from $12.95 to $89. They are legal to purchase in most states but not legal to carry on you as this would be considered as carrying a concealed weapon. However it is legal to have one in your home for self defense in most states. For people who have children and are afraid of them finding your loaded gun, this would make a fine weapon to position in a location near the front door of your home and if necessary, the opening of the baton to its extended position would have a psychological effect as the racking of a pump shotgun has on any potential invaders. Some batons come with an instructional DVD on how to effectively use this weapon utilizing the correct grip and proper tactics in striking a potential threat in the legs and ribs to stop him from doing any bodily harm to you or your family members. Check your local state and city laws to see if these batons are legal in your area.
