Traction tires and snow chains.

Post by Toepopper »

Its here again, snow covered mountain passes and roads. Time to check the snow tires and get the snow chains out of the garage and into the truck. In the west they have "chain check" inspection stops along all the state and federal roads that go through the mountain ranges. If you are driving a 2 wheel drive car you must carry chains and if not, they will turn you around and send you back down the hill. A 4 W.D. vehicle with snow tires may proceed and sometimes they will require chains in your vehicle if its really coming down hard.
Carrying chains could make the difference between getting out of Dodge or being stranded if TSHTF.

add this to snow chains , i would carry snow gear, such as sand, a entrenching tool , ice melter can , i have had to use it all , ice and deep snow.. count on trouble, and P.S. don't forget gloves and boots and winter hat and coat if stuck and a hand warmer as good extra  .
