Alaskan Sawmill

This is a real handy tool, lightweight, can be packed into remote areas and clamped onto a chainsaw to mill up lumber and beams. I attach an aluminum stepladder for a straight edge to make the first cut, use 60 penny bridge spikes to nail through 2 muffler clamps around ladder rungs to secure the ladder to the tree and then set the mill on top of the ladder so the first cut is straight. After making first cut, remove ladder and use flat cut on tree to make rest of cuts. Then snap lines on boards and trim edges. Lots of grunting and groaning but the end result is beautiful boards of whatever dimension you choose to cut. Ideal for building remote cabins where there aren't any roads for delivery trucks. Best results with use of a ripping chain designed for ripping boards with the grain which will give smoother, faster cuts with a smaller saw kerf.
