What happened to spring ?
April 20th and its 32 degrees this morning. I have planted only snow peas so far due to the unusual cold temperatures this year and am starting to wonder if we will go directly to summer and bypass spring altogether. Last year at this time we had 90 degree temps in April. I feel like we are way behi...

Re: Copper
Coins are good to have if you live in a place where you are not likely to be forced to leave. You can keep your coin stash and spend a few at a time but if for some reason you must leave, the weight of coins will limit how many you can take with you. Modern coins have a lot of copper in them and the...

Re: Copper
It is to your advantage to save all scraps of copper wire and also brass pieces such as old water faucets that perhaps have frozen and burst. Brass and bronze are also a valuable scrap commodity that can put cash in your wallet. I police up brass shell cases from the rifle range, even 22 cases and t...

Proposed laws in Oregon
The governor of Oregon has stated that she would like to see all motor vehicles over 25 years old removed from the roads, to improve air quality and she is pushing hard to force electric cars on the population. She flew to Germany last week for an eco summit and before she left Oregon she issued som...

IMI ammunition
Since Black Friday I have been receiving hourly email advertisements for ammunition specials at very low prices. Its like the people at Midway and Cheaper Than Dirt are having a contest to see who can offload the most ammo. Prices are down to where they were before 2008 when Obama became president. ...

Re: Death Row For Hornets and Wasps
Have never seen this type of trap but will look for it. We set a wasp trap up last summer, the kind you place a dab of cat food in as an attractant. Mr. wasp flies into the trap and can't get out. This summer we noticed the wasp population is much less than last summer's as the trap put a huge dent ...

Re: 4.6 MM Round
Right now the only pistol I can find being sold in the USA are made by Fabrique National in Belgium and they fire the 5.7 mm round. Same type of pistol as the 9 mm version. I have fired the 5.7 at a range and wasn't impressed. They are high velocity but not much knock down power. I think they are tr...

4.6 MM Round
The Belgian and German gun manufacturers have been developing a new class of ammunition to replace the venerable 9mm cartridge. The engineers at FN in Belgium came out with the 5.7 x 28 mm cartridge in 1993 for the newest FN pistol while the German company of H&K released their competitor round,...

Oroville Dam Evacuation
So your sitting out on the front porch of your retirement home in Marysville California on a typical Sunday evening, admiring the view and thinking about how peaceful the area is when a sheriff's car turns into your driveway. A young deputy gets out and announces that you must evacuate the area beca...

"Hammer follow"
While at the range last Saturday my Browning Hi Power pistol began misfiring. The slide came back but the hammer started riding forward with the slide so I had to thumb the hammer back into position to fire the next round. This happened 7 rounds in a row so I switched pistols to finish the event, us...

New powders
Out with the old, in with the new. Evidently this is the new philosophy being used by the powder manufacturers. Can't get the usual gun powders, especially traditional pistol powders so had to substitute with new types which were recently released to the general public. I purchased 2 pounds of BL-86...

Re: Gout
I am 68 years old and had my first attack of gout last month, thought I had sprained my foot but the pain was concentrated in the big toe of the left foot. Hurt so bad I couldn't stand or place any pressure on that foot. Went to the VA hospital as soon as I could walk, 10 days later, they did a bloo...

$30 is a good value, you couldn't buy the necessary materials to build one for that little amount of cash.

Here we go again
Made the mistake of going to a local gun show on Sunday. There was not a single round of ammunition left, all had been bought up the day before by 2PM. So it has started once again, people are freaking out at the prospect of Hitlery winning the election and trying to do away with the second amendmen...

Firearms refinishing
I had 2 antique firearms I wanted to re-finish and hang on the wall, been putting this project off for years due to no spare time. They were in bad shape with rust and pitting on a double barrel shotgun and no finish left on a Winchester Model 1900. I bought a can of Dura Coat in a spray can which h...

Re: Frog Lube Review: Gun Cleaning Made Easy
Well, it took 4 years to find a place that carries Frog Lube as a cash and carry off the shelf item. I used it on 2 different autoloader pistols and it seems to hold up to the abuse of heat and won't wash off in the rain. No jams occurred either and it tastes good too.

Even late date non silver coins will retain their value better than paper currency. Junk silver coins are getting hard to find here on the left coast. Don't worry, the cashless society will save the economy.

Re: Goose berries
They were originally brought to North America from England. The berries are about the size of a grape with smooth skin and the texture is similar to a grape. Kind of tart but you can eat them raw and make pies or muffins with no sugar needed. We make muffins or bread with a mixture of goose berries ...

Armalite AR10
I picked up a used AR10 last week, got it at a very good price and its in like new condition. The previous owner said it was too much gun for him. This bad boy fires the 308 / 7.62 x 51 cartridge and is basically a beefed up oversized version of the M-16. The rifle weighs 9 and a half pounds, has a ...

Re: All Things Diabetes After TEOTWAWKI
Like the price on the test strips and the meter. Surprised by how inexpensive the strips are. I have an Accu- Chek meter which is at least a decade old and it uses Accu Chek Aviva Plus test strips which cost $45 per 50 count in the drug store. What a jolt to the pocket book. But now there are so man...

My insulin type has changed several times over the years. Started off taking a mixed insulin known as 70/30, one injection before each meal. After several years and as the disease progressed my doctor changed to Novolog before each meal. I started having extreme lows, glucose level fell to 40 once w...

Re: All Things Diabetes After TEOTWAWKI
I wish I could take pomegranate juice but its sugar content is sky high so I leave it on the grocery store shelf.
