We live in an area where lots of people have
to haul water, The town 7 miles from our house
has a water spout available 24 hours a day just
outside the fire station. It costs .25 cents a hundred
gallons. we have a water tank that fits in the back
of our pickup and the water does not freeze between
town and home in the winter, It also helps to haul on
warm afternoons. We usually fill our tank in late nov.
and we dont have to fill again for about 6 weeks. we
have a 2400 gallon cistron and only use about 300
gallons a week.

I am curious as to where do you haul your water from?? How do you accomplish this chore during the winter? I swapped out my 5 gallon at a time flush toilet for one that uses 3 &1/2 gallons and now the national building code has changed to a 1&1/2 gallon per flush unit. We use about 1200 gallons a week during the summer (dry) months including water for the fruit trees and vegi garden, and much less , (250gal.) during the rainy season. There are only 2 of us here.

We haul water by a pickup truck to a 2400 gallon
cistern 400 gallons at a time. We have a composting
toilet so we only use about 300 gallons a week. Our
cistern sits about 100 feet on a hill above the house
so our house is gravity fed. hauling water is not to bad
but it does promote conservation. The most water wasting
thing in the house is the toilet where you pollute 3 gallons
with a pint of waste with every flush.

That looks like a rough way to go, and they can't drill a well!! Who's land is it, theirs or the city of Louisville? So much for private property rights.
