I think I read that same article about a week ago, have not tried it yet. Sounds kind of painful, but if I remember it I will have to try it out. I also just added single dose lubricating eye drops to all of my bags. In case I get something in my eye while out and about.

I know it will burn like hell, but I just read an article about sprinkling cayenne pepper on a cut or wound. Supposedly it will clot within minutes.

I have some in my get home bags. Here is what I bought http://www.amazon.com/Adventure-Medical ... clot+sport You might be able to find cheaper at your local pharmacy. This kit has tape and gloves in it as well.

I bought 2 packages of "Quick Clot" and added them to the small emergency medical kit in my bug out bag. Quick Clot is a gauze type pad filled with a blood coagulent enzyme and when placed over a wound it stops the bleeding within a few seconds. It comes wrapped in a sterile foil package, takes up very little space and weighs almost nothing so this is an appropriate item for your bug out bag. Both the Army and Marine Corps have adopted this product because it works so well to stop the bleeding from gun shot wounds. It comes in 2 sizes, the smaller size costs $11.20 and the larger is $15.40 and that is a small price to pay for something that could save you from bleeding out before you can get to proper medical care. I am going to get more and carry them in my vehicles as well as the BOB.
