I've considered adding a field phone system to my BIL supplies but haven't committed to it yet. Mostly because I have hand-held FRMS/GRMS radios that have a rechargeable battery pack. I also have an FCC radio license to use the GRMS frequencies in current times.
I have 12v batteries and means to charge them along with DC inverters to supply power to operate the AC powered radio chargers so that we can be a bit more mobile than having to be tied to a wire arrangement.
Still, when having to keep the perimeter secure for a large area, strategically located and manned posts are invaluable and this is where a field phone arrangement would shine.
My area of perimeter is nowhere large enough to require it. For the future I have no way of knowing whether or not this system would be necessary but, I'll likely obtain one, or more, or build one, or more, for when my land holdings and area of responsibility may increase.
